EC directives to investigate legal aspects

The Election Commission (EC) has instructed to examine the legal aspects of cultural liberation movement proposed to form the National Council. EC Secretariat’s Acting Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said that the initial discussion was held in the meeting of the commission on the proposal to form a National Council. The Election Commission is thinking about the issue. It has been said to see how it can be done or whether there is a scope for a national assembly.
On Thursday, on the first day of the ongoing dialogue with the political parties, the Election Commission had proposed the formation of a National Council for the reform of electoral rules and regulations. The group’s proposal was that the members of all the parties registered with the Election Commission will be the members of the National Assembly. The convenor of the council will be the chief election commissioner and the head of the council will be the president.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) today held a meeting with two other political parties on Monday. The EC will hold a meeting with Bangladesh Muslim League (BML) at 11 pm and Khelafat Majlish at 3 pm. In the meeting, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda will be present in the meeting while other Election  Commissioners and the Acting Secretary of the EC will be present.
After Monday, the EC will sit with the Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party on August 30 at 11 pm and National Democratic Party (JAGPOR) at 3 pm.
Apart from this, the Islamic Front will be held at 11 pm on September 10 and the dialogue with the Islamic Movement Bangladesh at 3 pm. On 12 September, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish and the Islami Oikya Jote at 3 pm and the Kalyan party on September 14 at 11 pm and the Election Commission will sit in dialogue with Islamic Front Bangladesh at 3 pm.
The Election Commission is taking opinions on a number of issues to handle eleven parliament elections. Among them are: – People’s Representation Order, 1972, Tactics to reduce the impact of illegal money and muscle power in the elections; Reforming the parliamentary constituency, reforming the necessary legislation, preparing the correct voter list, setting up of the polling station, registering the new party, the scrutiny of the registered party and the capacity of the EC.
