Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said the government would not bow down to outsiders’ pressure.

The ruling party leader came up with this remark while addressing a function marking the 10th anniversary of Anwar Khan Modern Medical College at Dhanmondi in the capital.

“Country people can put pressure on us. But we will not bow down to any other’s pressure,” he said

He said few leaders of BNP went to the United Nations to lodge complains against the government after the party failed to wage all sorts of movement.

The minister said BNP has signed treaties with two institutions of Washington for lobbying in exchange of $20,000 initially and $35,000 every month to put pressure on Bangladesh government.

“From where BNP gets the money?” he questioned.

Quader said: “I want to say it clearly that we have very strong people’s support. Our root is very deep in the soil of Bangladesh.”

He said if the country has any problem, it’s people will solve it.
