Khaleda lawyers demand division for her

BNP joint secretary general Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon on Friday said a team of BNP lawyers went to the old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in the city in the evening for submitting an application to the jail authorities, seeking division for the BNP chief.
However, the jail authorities did not meet them to receive it although they waited for nearly two hours at the jail gate.
Earlier on Thursday, Khaleda, a 73-year-old former prime minister, was taken to the old central jail after a special court sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Talking to reporters at the jail gate, Mahbub Uddin Khokon, also general secretary of Supreme Court Lawyers’ Association (SCBA), said Khaleda Zia was the three-time prime minister. “She needs daily medical checkup, so we want division for her.”
The BNP leader underwent surgical operations at her knee twice. “So, she needs a hygienic washroom, too, we demanded the jail authorities ensure that,” he said.
