Microbus gas cylinder blast kills three in Tangail

Three people, including a woman, were killed in a gas cylinder blast of a microbus in Tangail town early today.

The deceased were identified as, Jannatul Ferdous Bonya, 19, her brother Faruk Miah, 40, and her uncle Sirajul Islam, 55, reports our Tangail correspondent quoting Sanjit Kumar Roy, superintendent of police in Tangail.

 

The injured are Tanvir, 33, a sub-inspector of Sonargaon Police Station, Assistant Sub-Inspector Habib, Constable Azahar, 45, and microbus driver Akter, 35, Sanjit Kumar Roy said.

Two of the seriously injured police members were referred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the SP added.

The incident occurred when a police team from Narayanganj’s Sonargaon Police Station was returning by the microbus after rescuing Jannatul Ferdous Bonya, an abduction victim, from Bagmara of Rajshahi, the official said.

 

The microbus, carrying seven people, caught on fire after the gas cylinder blast in Kumudini College intersection area around 4:30am, leaving Bonya, her brother and uncle microbus dead on the spot, the police official added.

After the blast, firefighters recovered the bodies, rescued the injured people and rushed them to the Tangail General Hospital, the correspondent reports quoting Abdur Razzak, senior station officer of Tangail Fire Service and Civil Defense.
