five Bangladeshi killed in Saudi road accident

At least five Bangladeshis were killed and 11 others injured in a road accident in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

Bangladesh consulate in Jeddah identified one of the deceased as M Monirul Islam, son of a certain Mohsin Hossain from Mohiswala village in Narail sadar upazila, reports UNB.

Seven of the injured are M Israfil Sheikh, son of one Israfat Sheikh of Ranchandrapur village in Narail sadar upazila, Sujon Ahmed, son of one Shamsuddin of Bagla village in Golapganj upazila of Sylhet, Mohammad Elahi, son of Sheikh Dudu Miah from Magura, Mohammad Shahjahan Miah, son of Abdul Hai from Fonarfoda in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj, M Kabir Sheikh, son of Hero Sheikh of Parmallik village in Narail sadar upazila, M Rubel Islam, son of Abul Kalam of Sorgazi in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla and Imam Hossain, son of Abdul Jabbar.

A press release of Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh said the Bangladeshi workers were going to their workplace in a minibus when it crashed into a roadside electric pole in the city of Jeddah around 6:00am local time after one of its tyres deflated.

The accident left five of the workers dead on the spot and 11 others injured.

The bodies were kept at the King Fahad Hospital in Jeddah while the injured were taken to different hospitals. The condition of two of them was stated to be critical.
